Cuproptosis, which name is nominated in March 2022, is a novel mechanism of regulated cell death that is distinct from all known death mechanisms such as apoptosis, pyroptosis and ferroptosis. This copper-dependent death occurs by means of direct binding of copper to lipoylated components of the TCA cycle, which results in lipoylated protein aggregation and subsequent iron-sulfur cluster protein loss and leads to proteotoxic stress and ultimately cell death.
Cell copper and glutathione assay kit are provided by Elabscience for cuproptosis researching.
